'Inspirational messages to refresh the spirit and boost the emotional bank account'
A Grandmother Takes Power
When my grandmother was 89 years old she was having problems with her heart.
My family went with her to the cardiologist who told her that she had a serious heart condition which required surgery. However, the eminent physician warned that because of my grandmother's age, complications could arise.
He went on to say that due to her age, during the operation my grandmother would have a 40% chance of having a heart attack, a 35% chance of having a stroke, a 30% chance of dying on the operating room table.
My grandmother, shocked, quickly interrupted the doctor and said, 'Doctor, as long as you're talking about statistics, I have a statistic for you: there is a 100% chance of you not operating on me!' With these words, my grandmother got up and left the doctor's office.
My grandmother might be stubborn, but she's not a fool. So the next day she went to another doctor where he too told her she needed surgery. He also stated that her age might cause a problem, but he was telling her in a way that was positive as opposed to the negative way of the previous day.
My grandmother then asked the doctor, 'If I were your mother, what would you recommend?'
The doctor walked up to her, smiled, put her arm around her, and said, 'Mom, let's have the operation!'
She had the operation and came out fine. Her positive attitude, which is vital to her and everyone added seven more wonderful, happy years to enjoy life and her family.
My grandmother passed away a few weeks before her 97th birthday. However, because of her positive attitude she gave us - her family and friends, almost eight more years of full life to enjoy sharing with her.

Love is . . .
Love is like magic and it always will be.
For love still remains life's sweet mystery.
Love works in ways that are wondrous and strange.
And there is nothing in life that love cannot change.
Love can transform the most commonplace.
Into beauty and splendour and sweetness and grace.
Love is unselfish, understanding and kind.
For it sees with its heart and not with its mind.
Love gives and forgives, there is nothing too much.
For love to heal with its magic touch.
Love is the language that every heart speaks.
For love is the one thing that every heart seeks.
